Throughout his career, Fussiner was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across New York, New Haven, and New England, including a major thirty-year retrospective at the Munson Gallery in 1990.
His paintings and prints are held in prestigious collections such as the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), the Slater Museum, the Yale University Art Gallery, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

Dean Wareham was born in Wellington, New Zealand. He moved to New York City as a teenager in 1977, and attended the high school where he met his future Galaxie 500 bandmates. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Social Studies. In 1987 he founded Galaxie 500, who released three albums, all produced by Kramer and released on Rough Trade. 2024 saw the release of new compilation of B-sides and previously unreleased tracks: Uncollected Noise New York ’88-’90. Wareham’s next band Luna recorded seven albums for Elektra and Beggar’s Banquet (including Penthouse, on Rolling Stone’s list of best albums of the 90s), followed by three albums as Dean & Britta (with his wife Britta Phillips), and two solo albums. His most recent release, also on Carpark Records, was a holiday album in collaboration with Britta and Sonic Boom.
His memoir Black Postcards is a chronicle of his years in indie rock and was published by Penguin. He has also co-composed soundtracks and acted in several films for Noah Baumbach, most recently White Noise.
That’s the Price of Loving Me is Dean's first album with Kramer since Galaxie 500’s This Is Our Music in 1990.

From their new millennium rise to MTV superstardom through pop-punk’s modern resurgence, SIMPLE PLAN have been an indelible part of pop culture since forming in Montreal in 1999. They’ve sold 10 million albums worldwide, won multiple Juno Awards, performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics – and, most recently, launched the omnipresent #ImJustAKid TikTok challenge that’s spawned more than 3.4 million videos, including clips from Hilary Duff, Ed Sheeran, Usher and Venus and Serena Williams.
HARDER THAN IT LOOKS is the first self-released album from drummer Chuck Comeau, vocalist Pierre Bouvier and guitarists Sébastien Lefebvre and Jeff Stinco. The album respects Simple Plan’s storied career while pushing forward in new ways, with songs like “The Antidote,” “Ruin My Life” (ft. “It’s amazingly complex to be in a band for 20-plus years, to keep going, stay relevant and manage all the challenges that come your way,” Bouvier says. “It’s the furthest thing from a ‘simple plan’ – it’s truly a lot harder than it looks. Throughout our career, it’s taken a while to be mature enough to understand that our sound is an asset, not a liability. On this album we said: ‘Let’s just embrace who we are and not be afraid to do what we do best.’ Making a good Simple Plan record is just as hard as making something off the beaten path.

WINONA FIGHTER
Nashville-based Winona Fighter is breathing new life into the resurging punk scene. Recently signed to Rise Records, they are on a mission to create punk music that is accessible and accepting to all music lovers willing to listen. This mission statement is exemplified by latest single "I'm In The Market To Please No One", a sonic kick in the face with an earworm chorus and empowered lyrical content and delivery.
Coco’s (front-woman of Winona Fighter) introduction to the Boston punk rock scene at an early age was the catalyst influence for her sound and stage presence. Moving to Nashville gave her a task to expose music lovers to the power of thrashable tunes. After recruiting lead guitarist Dan Fuson, they set off to do justice to the scene Coco had left behind, eventually adding Austin Luther (bass/producer) to the family.
The release of “I’m In The Market To Please No One” saw the band deliver their first proper music video. The song received major support from DSPs including placements with covers on ‘All New Punk’ and ‘New Noise’ playlists. The band is recognized as an energized powerhouse during their live performances. Their shows are a space where all bullshit and ego is left at the door - all are welcome, equal and need to get on their fucking feet. They’re not slowing down in 2024 with 10 shows at SXSW and a US tour with Bayside, Finch and Armor For Sleep. The band will also hit festival stages again for Shaky Knees, Louder Than Life and Aftershock Festival.

The Clinton Art Society (CAS) is pleased to present the Spring Members Exhibition on view from May 1 – June 19, 2025. The opening reception is Thursday, May 1 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm and is free and open to the public.
“This exhibition honors the return of spring and celebrates the lively and creative energy of the season. We are delighted to have renowned artist Howard Park serve as our awards judge,” said CAS President Robin Hammeal-Urban.
The exhibition is at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall, 54 E. Main Street in Clinton, CT and is open during regular Town Hall hours (Monday through Wednesday, 9am to 4pm; Thursday, 9am to 7pm; Friday, 9am to 12pm).
CAS is a vibrant arts community with members from across the state and beyond working in all fine art media. The organization sponsors exhibitions, plein air events, and critique sessions. Separated by 2,781 miles and on two different continents, Iraqi and Nigerian Christians share similar stories of persecution. From 2014-2018, portions of Northern Iraq were under the control of the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and many religious minorities, including Christians, experienced persecution and violence as a result. In the northern and central portions of Nigeria, violence towards Christians and other minority groups has also increased in recent years at the hands of Boko Haram and other groups.
The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center is honored to share the stories of those displaced in Iraq and Nigeria through Among the Persecuted and Displaced — a collection of photographs taken by Stephen Rasche. The Knights of Columbus has sponsored some of Rasche’s work in both countries, bringing to light the atrocities inflicted on those persecuted for their faith.

Playing Images
Learn a variety of techniques to make rugged landscapes, hills and horizons both representational and abstract. Participants use basic fundamentals of painting to mix, layer colors and make shapes to create endless possible textures integrating painting and collage. These techniques will move your art to another level.
Regina Thomas’ collage and mixed media art is a mélange of visual stimuli, colors, and shapes involving different genres from the representational to the abstract. These multi-layered works portray her view of the world, never realistic, injecting her own narratives, metaphors, and icons. Regina works instinctually, and her desire is to stimulate and intrigue the viewer, make a connection, bringing their own experiences to the work.
Regina has lived and traveled throughout Asia and Europe. While in London, she attended Richmond University concentrating on the Art Disciplines as well as Studio classes. Upon her return to the states she continued refining her art through classes and workshops at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), The New Art Center in Newton – MA, South Shore Art Center – MA, West Hartford Art League, Creative Arts Workshop/New Haven, CT, Yale University and The British Art Museum.
Regina has been included in many juried exhibitions in New England. Thomas shows in private galleries and has private collectors across the U.S., Europe, South America and Asia. Her most recent shows have been at The John Slade Ely House in New Haven, and The Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook where she also holds classes in collage and mixed media art.
Capture the Physical World, Its Textures & Colors
Registration is now open for Robin Hood and the Sherwood Circus , a spring Miniproduction at Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown. The program is open to young people ages 6 - 14.
The Miniproduction is a fun version of the Robin Hood story which combines both theater and circus. This two-week theater adventure will run Monday through Friday, 4:30 - 6 pm, from May 27 through June 5, culminating in performances June 5 and 6 at 7 pm.
The production is part of Oddfellows Playhouse’s Oddbridge Extended Day program. Through the program, Middletown public school students can take a bus directly from school and get a snack before rehearsals begin. A drop off option is available for homeschoolers or students from other school districts.
Robin Hood and the Sherwood Circus will be co-directed by Oddfellows instructors Maegan Fuller and Kayla Bucholz. Fuller says of the show: “When the evil Prince John tasks the Sheriff of Nottingham to collect unreasonable taxes from the villagers, it’s up to Robin Hood, Little John and the other Merry Clowns of the Sherwood Circus to wage a light-hearted battle against their evil foes! Will Robin save the day and win the hand of Maid Marian? Join us to find out!”

Speed Dating for Ages 50-60 in Woodbridge, CT at NEBCO
Participants will learn how to build and test a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) circuit using a breadboard—no soldering required! This beginner-friendly electronics workshop is perfect for anyone curious about circuitry but unsure where to start. Along the way, you’ll gain a solid foundation in electronics terminology, tools, and safety practices. Each participant will receive a kit with all the components needed for the class, plus a few extras to encourage future experimentation at home.
What to Expect
You’ll start with an introduction to breadboarding and basic electronic components, then move into building your own VCO circuit from scratch. We’ll walk through how to read datasheets, test circuits with LEDs, and safely use a multimeter and oscilloscope. The instructor will guide you step-by-step, and there will be time for hands-on experimentation, questions, and troubleshooting.

Art Class for Kids Ages 4-16
Registration is now open for Robin Hood and the Sherwood Circus , a spring Miniproduction at Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown. The program is open to young people ages 6 - 14.
The Miniproduction is a fun version of the Robin Hood story which combines both theater and circus. This two-week theater adventure will run Monday through Friday, 4:30 - 6 pm, from May 27 through June 5, culminating in performances June 5 and 6 at 7 pm.
The production is part of Oddfellows Playhouse’s Oddbridge Extended Day program. Through the program, Middletown public school students can take a bus directly from school and get a snack before rehearsals begin. A drop off option is available for homeschoolers or students from other school districts.
Robin Hood and the Sherwood Circus will be co-directed by Oddfellows instructors Maegan Fuller and Kayla Bucholz. Fuller says of the show: “When the evil Prince John tasks the Sheriff of Nottingham to collect unreasonable taxes from the villagers, it’s up to Robin Hood, Little John and the other Merry Clowns of the Sherwood Circus to wage a light-hearted battle against their evil foes! Will Robin save the day and win the hand of Maid Marian? Join us to find out!”

Inaugurated in 1867, Street Hall—today part of the Yale University Art Gallery—housed the first collegiate school of art in the country. Its curriculum permitted students from a variety of disciplines to sketch from live models and original works of art. Take part in this centuries-old practice by joining us for an evening of guided sketching. Generously sponsored by the Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund.

Join us for the opening our new exhibit celebrating the life and work of distinguished artist Howard Fussiner (1923–2006). Throughout his career, Fussiner was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across New York, New Haven, and New England, including a major thirty-year retrospective at the Munson Gallery in 1990.
His paintings and prints are held in prestigious collections such as the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), the Slater Museum, the Yale University Art Gallery, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
Curated by Judy Birke this exhibition and sale will run through August 31. The venue is accessible 24/7 with a lobby concierge onsite.

The Tassy Walden Awards for New Voices in Children’s Literature is an annual competition that encourages and nurtures the creation of exceptional books for children by unpublished Connecticut writers and illustrators. It began in 2001 and includes five award categories: Picture Book (text only), Illustrated Picture Book (text and illustrations), Children’s Book Illustrator’s Portfolio, Middle Grade Novel, and Young Adult Novel.

BLOC PARTY
Moving from hooky post-punk to ambitious genre-mashing - and back again - Bloc Party's artistic restlessness has served them well since the early 2000s. The mix of Kele Okereke's impassioned yelp and Russell Lissack's angular riffs on their first EPs helped shape British indie rock for the rest of the decade, but by the time Bloc Party released their platinum-selling 2005 debut album Silent Alarm, they'd added atmospheres drawn from post-rock and electronic textures to their style.
The East London band continued to push themselves on 2007’s A Weekend in the City and the following year’s Intimacy, incorporating influences from hip-hop to modern composition and writing songs that ranged from socially aware to deeply personal. Bloc Party’s later albums were also adventurous, whether they borrowed some of post-hardcore’s bite on 2011’s Four or mused on spirituality on 2016’s reflective, redemptive Hymns. Despite hiatuses and lineup changes, when they returned to their razor-sharp post-punk on 2022’s Alpha Games, Bloc Party sounded as fresh as ever.

Separated by 2,781 miles and on two different continents, Iraqi and Nigerian Christians share similar stories of persecution. From 2014-2018, portions of Northern Iraq were under the control of the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and many religious minorities, including Christians, experienced persecution and violence as a result. In the northern and central portions of Nigeria, violence towards Christians and other minority groups has also increased in recent years at the hands of Boko Haram and other groups.

In keeping with the historic location of Ball and Socket Arts which was a manufacturing facility, “Boardslide” is an exhibition focusing on the ability of fine artists to translate the form of a skateboard through their creativity.
The gap between sports and art is wide mainly due to preconceived notions. Fine artists often find themselves compelled to defend creation of utility items which are termed as craft as if it is in any way a genre of lesser importance. Likewise, sports equipment is usually not associated with fine art. In a complex world where a case can be made for all forms of creation to be connected through artistic as well as economic means, what better than the motif of a simple toy like a skateboard to form the basis of inspiration for a group of contemporary artists?
The materials are diverse as is the aesthetic of each participating artist.

Join us on the first Friday of the month for a one-hour, in-person tour of the Leslie P. and George H. Hume American Furniture Study Center at the Collection Studies Center, Yale West Campus. See more than 1,300 examples of American furniture and clocks from the 17th century to the present in this facility, which opened in 2019, as well as an outstanding collection of contemporary wood art.

Furniture Study Highlights Tour
This class provides step-by-step instruction for those seeking the fundamentals of watercolor painting. Class includes demos and structured exercises. Participants learn color mixing, dark and light and basic color theory principles. Different brush stroke techniques are addressed for specific effects i.e. wet on wet & dry stubble applications. Participants paint from still life setups and/or photo references from home. Everyone is encouraged to work on an ongoing painting at home to help solidify techniques learned in class. This piece may be brought into class on the last day for an open critique session. Instructor will work with you at your level even if you have taken watercolor in the past. Material list available upon registration.
Chris Kunze graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Painting/Illustration. He has had a long & successful career in Advertising and Promotion. His illustrations and designs have been used in books, magazines, newspapers, product packaging and logo design.
Chris’ fine art has always remained important throughout his career as a commercial artist.
He has had many solo and group shows in New York City, Westchester County and lower Connecticut, showcasing his oil paintings, watercolors and illustrations. Chris was part of an ongoing show at the Arthur Kalaher Fine Art in Sag Harbor, NY from 2011-2019. In 2018 he had a solo show of his watercolors at Teatown Lake Reservation.
In 2019 Chris began his participation in Arthouse.NYC’s “Healthcare Heroes Show”.
He has memorialized several healthcare workers who lost their lives during the height of the Covid pandemic. These oil portraits were given to their families and were on view at the
Big Plaza Screen in New York City.
Teaching is a passion that has come to the forefront in the past 15 years for Chris. He has been teaching a plethora of subjects among them drawing, oil painting, watercolors, and more at local Westchester art schools. He is currently teaching at Scarsdale Adult School.
Chris grew up in Europe and Westchester County. He currently resides in Salem, Connecticut.

Yoga is coming to the library! Free and open to all, we welcome everyBODY regardless of age, race, gender, or ability. During our collective practices we will come together to move our bodies and practice the 8 limbs of the yogic path. Classes may include guided movement, mantra, mudra, meditation, breath work and more.
Join us 2 Saturdays a month from April-August at the Wilson or Mitchell library from 10-11:30 for a time of community building practice. Feel free to bring a yoga mat and block if you have one, we will have a few available to borrow if you don't have your own. Teacher Bio:
My name is Karmen Sizemore and I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years. I did my yoga teacher training with Susanna Barkataki at Embrace Yoga's Roots in 2022. I practice a form of Hatha yoga as it has been passed down from it's East Asian roots, which can look very different from the Western version of yoga many people are familiar with. My goal when teaching yoga is to be a guide for others on the journey to unite the body, mind and soul.

In keeping with the historic location of Ball and Socket Arts which was a manufacturing facility, “Boardslide” is an exhibition focusing on the ability of fine artists to translate the form of a skateboard through their creativity.
The gap between sports and art is wide mainly due to preconceived notions. Fine artists often find themselves compelled to defend creation of utility items which are termed as craft as if it is in any way a genre of lesser importance. Likewise, sports equipment is usually not associated with fine art. In a complex world where a case can be made for all forms of creation to be connected through artistic as well as economic means, what better than the motif of a simple toy like a skateboard to form the basis of inspiration for a group of contemporary artists?
The materials are diverse as is the aesthetic of each participating artist.

Annie Sailer Adult Intermediate Dance Class
In this class learn to create layers of soft pastels to build up a recognizable image or object. Blocking in values from light to dark and understanding light to hard application on paper. In the beginning of class, simple still life set ups will be used i.e. two pieces of fruit in a bowl, etc. The light source and an investigation of color ranges that can be applied to any given object will also be explored. There will be demonstrations of techniques that will help all levels. Pastels are a wonderful opportunity for those who want to continue to hone their drawing skills with the new dimension of color. Finally, fixative spraying will be reviewed including how many layers are necessary. The last two classes will focus on a more complicated still life set up in an effort to create a completed piece of artwork. Instructor will work individually with participants with more pastel experience. Material list available upon registration.
Chris Kunze graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Painting/Illustration. He has had a long & successful career in Advertising and Promotion. His illustrations and designs have been used in books, magazines, newspapers, product packaging and logo design.
Chris’ fine art has always remained important throughout his career as a commercial artist.
He has had many solo and group shows in New York City, Westchester County and lower Connecticut, showcasing his oil paintings, watercolors and illustrations. Chris was part of an ongoing show at the Arthur Kalaher Fine Art in Sag Harbor, NY from 2011-2019. In 2018 he had a solo show of his watercolors at Teatown Lake Reservation.
In 2019 Chris began his participation in Arthouse.NYC’s “Healthcare Heroes Show”.
He has memorialized several healthcare workers who lost their lives during the height of the Covid pandemic. These oil portraits were given to their families and were on view at the
Big Plaza Screen in New York City.
Teaching is a passion that has come to the forefront in the past 15 years for Chris. He has been teaching a plethora of subjects among them drawing, oil painting, watercolors, and more at local Westchester art schools. He is currently teaching at Scarsdale Adult School.
Chris grew up in Europe and Westchester County. He currently resides in Salem, Connecticut.

His paintings and prints are held in prestigious collections such as the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), the Slater Museum, the Yale University Art Gallery, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

Separated by 2,781 miles and on two different continents, Iraqi and Nigerian Christians share similar stories of persecution. From 2014-2018, portions of Northern Iraq were under the control of the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and many religious minorities, including Christians, experienced persecution and violence as a result. In the northern and central portions of Nigeria, violence towards Christians and other minority groups has also increased in recent years at the hands of Boko Haram and other groups.
The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center is honored to share the stories of those displaced in Iraq and Nigeria through Among the Persecuted and Displaced — a collection of photographs taken by Stephen Rasche. The Knights of Columbus has sponsored some of Rasche’s work in both countries, bringing to light the atrocities inflicted on those persecuted for their faith.

Tour of “Tracey Emin: I Loved You Until The Morning”
Actor Rita Parisi will portray some of the spirited women who persevered throughout the American Revolution during, "The Women of '76," at the historic Pardee-Morris House, which was burned by the British during their raid on New Haven in 1779 (and where you can still see a burnt beam from the original structure). The free NH250 event will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, August 24, 2025). Register here.
Parisi will portray five women who witnessed the American Revolution and changed the course of history. Among them will be Baroness von Riedesel, wife of a Hessian general and chronicler of life in Revolutionary War military camps; Prudence Wright, minute woman and spy catcher; and Nancy Hart, a southern frontierswoman who faced the enemy and won.

Lessons will cover both functional and decorative pottery with emphasis on classical forms as we know them. The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center is honored to share the stories of those displaced in Iraq and Nigeria through Among the Persecuted and Displaced — a collection of photographs taken by Stephen Rasche. The Knights of Columbus has sponsored some of Rasche’s work in both countries, bringing to light the atrocities inflicted on those persecuted for their faith.

You decide – explore multiple printmaking techniques and processes or deepen your practice in one area. Use etching, drypoint, woodcut, linocut, monotype, transfer prints, paper lithography, polymer plate lithography, collagraph, silk aquatint, transfer prints, or Chine-collé. Learn new techniques or connect printmaking to other artistic media.
Includes one 3-hour practice session per week during monitored practice hours.
The tuition for this class includes a materials fee of $20 for basic materials provided by CAW.

Join us for the opening our new exhibit celebrating the life and work of distinguished artist Howard Fussiner (1923–2006). Throughout his career, Fussiner was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across New York, New Haven, and New England, including a major thirty-year retrospective at the Munson Gallery in 1990.
His paintings and prints are held in prestigious collections such as the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), the Slater Museum, the Yale University Art Gallery, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
Curated by Judy Birke this exhibition and sale will run through August 31. The venue is accessible 24/7 with a lobby concierge onsite.
