Description

Wednesday, October 29 from 6-8 p.m.

Meriden Public Library, 105 Miller Street, Meriden, CT 06450, Multi-Purpose Room 6

In 1937, the small farming town of Southbury (between Waterbury and Danbury) was confronted with the news that the German American Bund wanted to build their largest training and indoctrination camp on 175 acres of land that they had purchased. Although the story of what happened was largely forgotten, a documentary film premiered in 2012 that brought that story to national attention, including a prominent position within the original USHMM exhibit “Americans and the Holocaust” that opened in April 2018.

A roundtable discussion featuring the Southbury Historical Society and Arnie Bernstein, author of Swastika Nation, will delve into themes that this story exemplifies and its relevance to today’s environment. “What can we learn from this story?”

Registration is required for this event.

Registration will open on September 29, 2025 @ 6:00pm.
