Wallingford Table Presents: A Dragon Boat Festival!
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. It occurs in late spring and is celebrated by holding dragon boat races and eating sticky rice dumplings, customs that grant participants relief from the seasonal heat and good luck for the coming year. At our next Wallingford Table event, the Chinese American Heritage Association (CAHAI) of Fairfield County will lead a special presentation on this unique & lively festival while guests enjoy delicious refreshments associated with the holiday. After the presentation, a local Chinese dance troupe will lead a performance of traditional dances as part of the Dragon Boat ceremony!
