Description

A draw of the card, a roll of the die… See what the fortunes have in store in this generative writing workshop rooted in divination. We’ll take a look at examples of divination in recent work by GennaRose Nethercott, Jedediah Berry, and others. Then we’ll explore how various divinatory tools—from dice to oracle decks, paper cootie catchers to the humble orange peel—can be used to guide our writing process. What is the relationship between randomness and meaning-making? What can such collaborations with chance help us accomplish, and what are the effects on the reader?

All genres and levels welcome. No prior divination experience required.

Workshop is limited to 12 participants, so be sure to register now!

$30 gets you 90 minutes of instruction in the Workshop Gallery at Ball & Socket Arts from 10 to 11:30 am.  If cost is a barrier to participation, please reach out to our team by emailing info@ballandsocket.org to discuss accommodations.
