Opening Reception

Two Solo Exhibitions at Kehler Liddell Gallery: DRAWING CONCLUSIONS by Brian Flinn and LIGHT by R.F.Wilton. There will be an Opening Reception on Sunday, April 27, 2:00-5:00pm and Artist's talk at 3:00 pm. The Exhibition Runs: April 17 - May 18, 2025.

Brian Flinn recognizes that digital media has been a central component of his studio practice for nearly 25 years, though physical drawing is a fundamental part of his process. This exhibit brings together works spanning a variety of years, highlighting the maps of mark making that create the foundation for further explorations in both paint and digital media. Flinn explains, ”Drawing is an essential act offering me a venue from which to investigate and engage with the ideas and concepts that consistently drive my work. There are careful, slow meanderings of graphite and pastel, and large arcs of splashed or spilled ink that comprise much of these pieces. There are collage elements and scrapes that interact with the lines and areas, shaping the landscape of these drawings.” Brian Flinn is an

Associate Professor of Art, and the Art Education Program Coordinator at Central Connecticut State University. He earned a BFA and Masters at U of Bridgeport and his MFA at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

R. F. Wilton offers us some LIGHT, a recurring theme for this photographer which also characterizes the positive attitude he affects. Large scale and high contrast, these images command attention. R. F. Wilton is a self-taught photographic artist who has been creating images for personal self-expression for over 50 years. Since the early 1970’s, he has been an enthusiastic cultivator of the arts, with experiences of co-founding communal fine art projects, working as a professional musician, teaching photography and darkroom technique at all academic levels and being a founding member of several arts boards. Mr. Wilton is now retired from a 32-year career in the enterprise business software industry.
