Local Artists Pop-Ups in December at Guilford Art Center's HOLIDAY EXPO
Looking for a unique gift made by a local artist? Visit The HOLIDAY EXPO shop at Guilford Art Center to find gifts crafted by hundreds of artists through the holidays.
Additionally, new local artists will be featured in Saturday pop-ups throughout December. Artists will display and sell their work in the HOLIDAY EXPO shop on December 7, 14 and 21.
December 7, 12-4pm: Laura Berkowitz Gilbert, Tocco Studio : Laura Berkowitz Gilbert, of Tocco Studio, is a fiber artist who creates naturally dyed handcrafted products for the modern home. Employing natural dyes like organic indigo, cochineal and even food waste like avocado pits, she coaxes beautiful colors out of her vats to dye scarves, felted vases and fiber for wall art.
December 14, 10am-4pm: The Lyme Artisans Guild : The Lyme Artisans Guild is a collective of fine craftspersons with its roots in an artisan guild that was part of Old Lyme, Connecticut's history. It celebrates the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement, and fosters a community of talented artisans dedicated to creating unique and inspired works of art. Participating artists include Michaelle Pearson (silver jewelry), Ian Evertson (wood products), Sherry Block (forged metalwork), Wayne Kirk (pottery), Janet Soares (hooked rugs), Barbara Eaglesham (mosaic hangings), Troy Antoniewicz (functional copper), and Carol Stanland (ceramic, candles).
December 21, 12-pm: Linda Westgard : Linda Westgard is a ceramic artist who works primarily in stoneware which she throws and builds by hand and fires in a kiln she built herself. She uses a combination of traditional Japanese glazes along with other interesting glazes, and often leaves areas bare in order to reveal the clay's natural beauty and texture. She also experiments with surfaces by carving and imprinting forms.
The Shop is open 7 days a week. Hours: Monday through Saturday, 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 12:00-5:00pm.
