Description

Apartheid was dismantled in 1994, yet, three decades later, South Africa remains the most unequal country in the world. The roots of this inequality, and the reason for its persistence, are revealed in this exploration into South Africa. Tara Moore’s Legacy: The De-Colonized History of South Africa (2024) is a perspective-shifting documentary that features, with unprecedented access, the grandson of the “Architect of Apartheid,” who takes a searingly honest look at his ancestry, exposing not only the systemic but also the psychological strings that apartheid still holds over South Africa. For more information, visit legacydocumentary.org. Generously sponsored by Jane P. Watkins, M.P.H. 1979.

Offered in conjunction with the exhibition David Goldblatt: No Ulterior Motive. Exhibition co-organized by the Art Institute of Chicago and the Yale University Art Gallery, in collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE, Madrid.
