As the only Humanistic Jewish congregation in Connecticut, CHJ celebrates Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with contemplative services that incorporate beautiful music, inspirational poetry and readings in addition to a Humanistic liturgy.
Our services strike a balance between the broad stream of Judaism and a secular humanistic view of Jewish culture and customs. They are unique and spiritually uplifting and allow one to reflect on the year that has past and the promise of the new year to come.
CHJ is affiliated with the Society for Humanistic Judaism (shj.org), part of a movement that celebrates Jewish culture and heritage through a non-theistic, human-centered approach. Our membership reflects a diverse group of people who enrich our community.
To learn more about CHJ and our programs, and to register to attend our livestream High Holiday services, or to consider becoming a member to attend in person, please visit our website.
Virtual programs are open to the public and free of charge.
Join us for inspiring music, poetry, and Humanistic liturgy. Hear the urgent message of the Shofar and the soulful strains of the Kol Nidre. Reflect on the year that’s past and the promise of the year to come.
Duration of services is approximately 90 minutes.
L'shana Tovah!
