"Hand Papermaking with Pressed Flower Inclusions (a roadside bouquet) "

A unique presentation by Chris Penry entitled "Hand Papermaking with Pressed Flower Inclusions (a roadside bouquet) " Chris Penry will talk and demonstrate pressing simple flowers picked basically from the roadside... Queen Anne's lace, blackeyed susans, grasses, clover, etc.
Additionally, she will discuss papermaking as an art medium, using a pulled sheet of cotton/abaca pulp as the canvas and paints are created using the same pulp beaten for a much longer time and pigmented. Her intent is to bring a pulled sheet, pulp paints, pressed roadside flowers for everyone to work on. No paint is used in the making of Chris Penry’s “PaperScapes”. The colors and scenes that you see are created by hand with pigments and inclusions from nature while the paper pulp is still wet—before it dries. This seldom-seen technique known as Pulp Painting gives her work a unique, textural quality all its own.
