Experience Mozart’s “Requiem” in Middletown!

GMChorale will present Mozart’s beloved “Requiem” at the Santo Fragilio Performing Arts Center at Middletown High School on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Considered one of the most profoundly moving works of the choral repertoire, “Requiem” is all the more poignant since Mozart composed it in the final weeks and days of his tragically short life.
Left unfinished at his death in 1791, the “Requiem” was the last piece of music written by Mozart. Its haunting melodies, dramatic contrasts, and heartfelt lamentations make it a powerful meditation on life, death, and redemption. From the intense "Dies Irae" (Day of Wrath) to the serene Lacrimosa, Mozart's “Requiem” offers a transcendent experience that resonates with audiences on a deeply emotional level.
Orchestra New England, Saecula Singers and a solo quartet will join forces with the 90-voice GMChorale to present this monumental work under the direction of Joseph D’Eugenio. Short works by Mozart, Palestrina, Bach, Faure and Weelkes are also on the program. A pre-concert lecture at 3:00 p.m. with Wesleyan University’s Neely Bruce is included in the price of the tickets.
