Description

This memorable concert invites you to revel in some of the greatest treasures of the orchestral repertoire.

The program opens with Antonín Dvořák’s Scherzo Capriccioso, Op. 66, a spirited and imaginative work that sparkles with lively rhythms and Bohemian charm.

Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra in E-flat Major, K. 364 follows — a masterful dialogue between instruments that blends grandeur, lyrical beauty, and joyful energy across its three movements.

Bedřich Smetana’s Má Vlast (My Country): The Moldau then paints an evocative portrait of the Vltava River as it flows from bubbling springs through forests, meadows, and past ancient castles.

The journey continues with Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, featuring the beloved “Variations on a Shaker Melody.” This iconic work captures the fresh, hopeful spirit of rural America with its simple, stirring harmonies and open-hearted optimism.

The evening concludes with Maurice Ravel’s Boléro, a hypnotic masterpiece famous for its steady rhythm and irresistible crescendo. With bold orchestration and an unforgettable repeating melody, Boléro brings the concert to a mesmerizing close, celebrating the power and beauty of orchestral music at its finest.
