NICK FRADIANI will continue in the title role for the second year of the national tour of A BEAUTIFUL NOISE: THE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL.
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, A BEAUTIFUL NOISE: THE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chart-busting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 120 million albums sold, a catalogue of classics like "America," "Forever in Blue Jeans," and "Sweet Caroline," an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award, and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis, Neil Diamond's story was made to shine on Broadway-and head out on the road across America.
Like Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical before it, A BEAUTIFUL NOISE: THE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL is an inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir that tells the untold true story of how America's greatest hitmaker became a star, set to the songs that defined his career.
Presented in association with and endorsed by Neil Diamond.

Exhibition open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm with free parking and admission EXCEPT Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving); Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve); and Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day).
Many crèches, the three-dimensional representation of the Nativity scene, feature a diversity of settings and stable designs — the most common of which is an open-front wood structure. However, many artisans model their crèches after buildings and landscapes that are native to their homelands.
This exhibit includes a variety of crèches that showcase different examples of stables and mangers. In addition, it also highlights a handful of works whose settings have been customized for the figures they contain. One of these is the Neapolitan, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, by Cantone and Costabile of Naples, Italy. In addition, a brand-new crèche will be featured in this exhibit: The Nativity at New Haven's St. Mary’s Church, designed by US-based Navidad Nativities, Inc., with figures made in Italy by Original Heide.
Exhibit | Away in a Manger: The Creation of Nativity Scenes
Exhibition open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm with free parking and admission EXCEPT Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving); Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve); and Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day).
For centuries people around the world have celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ and numerous traditions have been incorporated into the Christmas season. Advent calendars, Christmas trees, and the display of the crèche, the three-dimensional representation of the Nativity scene, are just a few of these traditions. About the exhibition:
Installed at the Schwarzman Center, “Shining Light on Truth: Black Lives at Yale & in New Haven,” illuminates ongoing research that recovers the essential role of Black people throughout Yale and New Haven history. The exhibition puts back at the center of local storytelling people who have always been central to local history. It celebrates Black community building, resistance, and resilience on campus and in New Haven.
The show includes nearly one hundred images of Yale’s earliest Black students from the 1800s and early 1900s, many of whom had deep New Haven connections. The Schwarzman exhibition features compelling reproductions of photographs of New Haveners who were custodians of Yale. The Luke, Grimes, Creed, Park, and Bassett families, among the many people key to founding and sustaining Yale, and who are heralded in the show.
“Shining Light on Truth: Black Lives at Yale & in New Haven” showcases the proposal, made and thwarted in 1831, to build a Black college in New Haven. It also highlights the successful efforts of Black students in the 1960s to establish the Afro-American Cultural Center and Afro-American Studies at Yale.
This exhibition brings forth knowledge kept alive in archives and memory for many centuries—even when the dominant culture chose to ignore, bury, or forget. It extends the work of the Yale and Slavery Research Project and follows from the exhibition, “Shining Light on Truth: New Haven, Yale and Slavery,” at the New Haven Museum from February 16, 2024 – March 1, 2025.

🎨🎅 Family Holiday Fun Event – Paint Holiday Gnomes! 🎄✨
Exhibit Hours:
Wednesday – Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday, 12 to 5 pm.
From Frank Pepe’s original hat to celebrity-signed pizza boxes (including Gwyneth Paltrow and Yogi Berra!), if you love the crust, the crunch and the char of New Haven apizza, or simply have strong views on what comprises a good pie, you’ll find something to feed your personal pizza passion in the new exhibit “Pronounced Ah-Beetz,” open now at the New Haven Museum (NHM) through October 2027.
“Pronounced Ah-Beetz” examines the fun, the flavor and the history of pizza, including its origin as an affordable means of feeding workers in the fields of Italy, and how it became the food of the poor in the U.S. The Italian migration to New Haven gave way to Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria Napoletana, which gave birth to Sally’s Apizza, while a mile away Tony’s Apizza became Modern. How these three establishments became among the most iconically loved pizza restaurants in the country is a major focus.
While the exhibit highlights the “Big 3” original apizza spots in New Haven, it also extends through the family tree of New Haven pizzerias to present a picture of family, food and community that includes a host of other local pizzerias, including: Ernie’s, Zuppardi’s, BAR, Zeneli’s, Olde World, and the Big Green Pizza Truck, among others.

EVER / AFTER
Marion Belanger and Martha Willette Lewis (Collaborators)
October 30 - December 8, 2025
Located in The Workshop Gallery, Building 3.
Opening Reception on Thursday, October 30th from 4-7PM
Regular Gallery Hours from 12-4 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Ever/After is a collaborative multimedia art project that consists of photographs by Marion Belanger and ink paintings and collage by Martha Willette Lewis. This visual dialogue grew from their shared state of unease and concern regarding the climate/environmental crisis. Belanger makes photographs in the field and prints them on lightweight but durable rice paper that Lewis then soaks, stains, tears and paints upon. The added stress upon the photographic image (some which have already been altered by double exposure and intentional abstraction) symbolically references the damages and disturbances such as extreme storms, forest fires and extinctions that are now so evident in daily life. Manipulated, gilded, stained and torn, the works become artifacts bearing the impact of human touch, just as the land itself does. Fragile and beautiful, Ever/After is a visual lament for the seepages, shifts, losses, extinctions, and extractions made by humankind.
Belanger and Lewis have been collaborating since 2016. They created the permanent installation Insects & Plants: Excavating the Archive at the Connecticut Agricultural Experimental Station in New Haven. The Underneath, an immersive multi-media installation was commissioned by Artspace in 2016. Ever/ After is an ongoing series regarding the threatened environment, and Strange and Beautiful Sound is recent work centered on the coastline of Long Island Sound.

NEW HAVEN, CT. - Come, share in the “JOY: Dances For Midwinter,” presented by the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble! This annual production is not your typical holiday dance show. Featuring Classical Modern dances to inspire the spirit of the season, they run the gamut from exuberant to thoughtful, poignant to joyful. The centerpiece of the concert is “Christmas Oratorio” by Charles Weidman. Originally created in 1934, today it is restaged by Weidman expert - and New Haven resident - Gail Corbin. Swirling like a stained glass window come to life, “Christmas Oratorio” tells the story of the nativity through dance and is set to J.S. Bach's glorious score.
“JOY” features three other dances: “Ballade” and “Prelude” are both choreographed by genre-bending Modern Dance pioneer Anna Sokolow. The former explores the thrill of young love while the latter is a rich solo homage to the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff. Finally, “Schubert Impromptu,” by Claudia Gitelman, reckons with loss yet resounds with hope. “JOY: Dances For Midwinter” is a touching experience for the whole family, coming to you December 6th at 3PM and 7PM at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul & St. James, New Haven, Connecticut.

Show Description:
The 1999 album, Live in Vain by Mercy Velvet, exists on zero streaming platforms, and few people have heard it. But its legacy is as relevant as ever. The Mercy Velvet Project is a rock opera, a re-creation of the album. The work explores what makes us human, our collective need for community to survive—with musicians and dancers moving as one. Through nine songs, a queer and femme cast explore different barriers to experiencing love. Learning that by giving and receiving the gift of mercy, we are able to find the bridge to survival, wholeness, and hope.Over twenty years after the albums’ release, kamrDANCE and their collaborators expand upon Mercy Velvet’s legacy through their personal identities and today’s political realities. The show tells the story of the album through tap dance as percussion, contemporary dance, original text, and instrumentation via bass, guitar, vocals, and electronics—highlighting our vulnerabilities, learning together how to find the antidote that is mercy, and in turn lead meaningful lives.
Live in Vain by Mercy Velvet is the music that Choreographer Alexis Robbins grew up with, the percussive rhythms and lyrics that inspired living room dances. Her father, Mark Robbins, was the drummer and co-composer for Mercy Velvet, alongside lyricist Deb Lili, and guitarist Lou Lili. Her fathers’ love and direction has deeply influenced the music Alexis listens to and the music she creates as a tap dancer. Now, Alexis, Musical Director Christie Echols, and their collaborators bring Live in Vain to audiences for the first time.

These traditions also incorporate other important Christian figures and events in Christ’s life, such as St. Nicholas Day and the Feast of the Epiphany.
This Christmas, the Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center presents the exhibit, The Spirit of Christmas, which features crèches and other artwork from around the globe celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and traditions and feast days during the season.
Enjoy the Christmas season at the Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center through this exhibit, the supplemental exhibit Away in a Manger and a variety of programs, including our annual Christmastime Family Day. Discover more of our offerings at https://www.michaelmcgivneycenter.org/

Opening Reception on Tuesday November 18, 4:30-6:30pm at Pegasus Gallery.
Chip Rutan photographs the lower Connecticut River Valley and shoreline. His images depict locations he has known since childhood, and captures the momentary and transient nature of place, memory, and of home.
Photographs in Rutan’s “Space and Time” series were initially created with a Polaroid film camera between 2022 and 2023. The resulting images were digitally scanned, edited, and reprinted, while retaining the distinctly imperfect visual qualities of the Polaroid media. His human subjects were photographed from afar, so their likeness is impossible to discern, yet each composition contains a nostalgic and psychologically charged atmosphere of familiarity. Subjects walk along the beach, lounge, swim, and in many works, they appear to blur into the haze of dominant horizon lines. Rutan describes his photographs best as “ephemeral and dreamlike… portal(s) to a simpler time and place.”
Rutan lives in Old Saybrook, and has exhibited his photographs regionally and nationally. He holds an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts, an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (at Hartford), and a BA in Mathematics from the University of New Haven. See more of Rutan’s work on his website at: https://www.chiprutan.com
