March 22 – September 7, 2025 | Exhibition open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm with free parking and admission EXCEPT Friday, April 18 (Good Friday); Saturday, April 19 (Holy Saturday); Sunday, April 20 (Easter); Saturday, June 7; and Friday, July 4 (Independence Day).
Separated by 2,781 miles and on two different continents, Iraqi and Nigerian Christians share similar stories of persecution. From 2014-2018, portions of Northern Iraq were under the control of the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and many religious minorities, including Christians, experienced persecution and violence as a result. In the northern and central portions of Nigeria, violence towards Christians and other minority groups has also increased in recent years at the hands of Boko Haram and other groups.
The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center is honored to share the stories of those displaced in Iraq and Nigeria through Among the Persecuted and Displaced — a collection of photographs taken by Stephen Rasche. The Knights of Columbus has sponsored some of Rasche’s work in both countries, bringing to light the atrocities inflicted on those persecuted for their faith.

PEACH PIT
Peach Pit has become a standout in indie rock, known for their ability to craft songs that are both sonically rich and emotionally resonant. Since their 2016 debut Sweet FA, the Vancouver-based band—lead singer Neil Smith, guitarist Chris Vanderkooy, bassist Peter Wilton, and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi—have continuously evolved, expanding their sound while staying true to the heartfelt songwriting that first captured listeners’ attention. Their previous albums, You and Your Friends (2020) and From 2 to 3 (2022), saw the band honing their blend of introspective lyrics and dreamy, guitar-driven arrangements, incorporating elements of psychedelia and classic pop. With Magpie, Peach Pit takes this evolution further, infusing their signature indie-rock style with even more expansive, kaleidoscopic arrangements and raw emotional depth. The album reflects both personal growth and artistic exploration, drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical influences while embracing the duality of life’s choices, challenges, and moments of reflection. The energy on Peach Pit's Magpie is also the closest the band has ever come to capturing the essence of their legendary live show. Selling out nearly every headline show they’ve ever played, the band has also graced the bills of festivals such as Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees Festival, Bonnaroo, Osheaga, and played numerous sold-out tours in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Called “the funniest farce ever written,” Noises Off by Michael Frayn presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
“A joyous and loving reminder that the theater really does go on even when the show falls apart”.

Written during a period of deep personal reflection, the album marks a turning point for the platinum-selling artist. Where 2021’s Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land looked outward at a fractured world, PRINCESS OF POWER turns inward, embracing vulnerability as strength, turning pain into power and the radical optimism of love.
Now releasing independently through her own label, Queenie Records, in partnership with BMG, MARINA sheds old expectations and fully steps into her own. The album pulses with disco-lit electro pop and lyrical declarations of freedom, feminine energy, and love. Tracks like “BUTTERFLY,” “CUPID’S GIRL,” and “CUNTISSIMO” reflect a woman reborn and thriving on her own terms.
MARINA burst on to the scene in 2009, and has since released five acclaimed albums including Electra Heart (2012), which debuted at Number 1 on the UK’s Official Charts, FROOT (2015), Love + Fear (2019), which debuted Top 5 in the UK and Top 10 on the U.S. Albums chart, and most recently Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land (2021), which featured the Ivor Novello nominated hit “Man's World.”
With PRINCESS OF POWER, MARINA isn’t just making music - she’s building a future rooted in authenticity, creativity, and courage. It’s MARINA as you’ve never seen her, yet never more herself.

Premier Concerts and Manic Presents:
GARBAGE
Since their eponymous debut album in 1995, Garbage composed of Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Market & Butch Vig has had a great influence on global pop music.
Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, Garbage’s expansive, explosive, all-too-human album is their eighth. It’s the first one that arrived unexpectedly, due to unforeseen circumstances. Conjured into existence when the band was all at sea.
The songs on Let All That We Imagine Be The Light tell stories, both musically and lyrically. Some are direct tales from Shirley’s life. Have We Met (The Void) recalls a specific moment in Barcelona where a love affair crumbled in the face of a furious woman. Chinese Fire Horse is a riposte to a ridiculous, ageist retirement inquiry from journalists. Other songs emerged less directly. A half-remembered memory; a ‘we must flee’ emotion. Sisyphus and Radical combine Shirley’s desperation about recovery with mantras (prayers) for those that are repressed.
The music is generous, full of atmosphere and drama. Filmic. You might hear a Joy Division-style bass, some no-messing riffs. There is dignity and splendour, dynamics and beauty. A sense of a full world, of story-crafting through soundscaping.

STARCRAWLER
Starcrawler are a rock band for a new generation. Best known for their explosive live shows, the 5-piece band consists of full-throttle frontwoman Arrow De Wilde, guitarist Henri Cash and brother Bill Cash on pedal steel/guitar, drummer Seth Carolina, and bassist Tim Franco. With two studio albums under their belts, their upward trajectory continues to roll full steam ahead in 2022 with the release of their brand-new single, “Roadkill.” Fully leaning into their own epic vision of a contemporary Hollywood Babylon, they’ve morphed into a modern day take on LA legends X, with a sprinkle of The Go-Go’s, a smattering of The Distillers and some Rolling Stones sleaze thrown in for good measure. Since their early days, Starcrawler have won the love of such legendary artists as Shirley Manson, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Jack White, Dave Grohl, and more all while opening for the likes of Jack White and My Chemical Romance, and previous support slots with luminaries such as Beck, Foo Fighters and Spoon among others. Now embarking on a new ‘era’, Los Angeles’ most thrilling rock’n’roll collective are as raw and hungry as ever, but refined, refreshed and ready to take on whatever's thrown at them.

Woven into Indonesia’s cultural fabric, textiles have historically served not only as expressions of artistry and tradition but also as drivers of trade and economic activity. In this lecture, Barbara Watson Andaya, Emeritus Professor of Asian Studies, University of Hawai‘i, reaches back into the past, exploring how cloth and material objects reflect shifts in aesthetic preferences, ritual practices, and the assimilation of outside influences. In the process, Andaya examines the gendered dimensions of cloth production as it transitioned from a cottage industry to a central commodity in the broader economy. Although the women involved—whether in transforming bark into cloth, infusing their weaving with intricate symbolism, or painting the vibrant designs that made “batik” a household name—are often overlooked in Indonesian history, they bequeathed a legacy that is still thriving.
Taking as departure points several pieces in the Gallery’s exhibition Nusantara: Six Centuries of Indonesian Textiles, the lecture traverses the Indonesian archipelago, tracing historical developments and highlighting the extraordinary diversity and cultural dynamics embedded in textiles. From the headdresses of headhunters to the cosmological motifs adorning Sumatra’s ship cloths and the mythical creatures on a batik waist wrapper from Java, this journey through time reveals both unique creativity and the profound connections between textiles and the identities of so many Indonesian communities.
Generously sponsored by the Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund. Offered in conjunction with the exhibition Nusantara.

CT Cult Classics presents:
EVIL DEAD IN CONCERT
Evil Dead In Concert, a live-to-film experience that thrills and chills, resurrects Sam Raimi’s beloved cult classic in a way audiences have never seen before -- in this lifetime.
The legendary film will be screened in a newly restored format and brought to life on stage while a live ensemble performs the entire revamped original musical score from composer Joe LoDuca.
LoDuca began his film career by composing this iconic score for director Sam Raimi, and went on to win multiple Emmys for his scoring work. Most recently, Joe released a reimagining and re-recording of the original Evil Dead score called “Evil Dead: A Nightmare Reimagined,” where he re-recorded and expanded on the original musical themes of the movie.
Evil Dead follows five college students on vacation in an isolated cabin in the woods, where they unwittingly release absolute evil into the world and have to fight to survive. This indie classic is known as one of the most significant cult horror films of all time, and has generated a massive following worldwide since its release.

https://ism.yale.edu/events/2025-10-07-all-creation-sings-your-praises-tracing-a-liturgical-motif-in-the-face-ofThis year’s annual Kavanagh Lecture will be given by Teresa Berger, Professor of Liturgical Studies and the Thomas E. Golden Jr. Professor of Catholic Theology (emerita as of June 30, 2025) at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Yale Divinity School.
The event is sponsored by the Kavanagh Lecture series and Liturgy Symposium series. The Kavanagh Lecture, presented by the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, is named for the late Professor Emeritus of Liturgics Aidan J. Kavanagh O.S.B., and given in conjunction with Convocation Week at Yale Divinity School.
This presentation focuses on an underappreciated liturgical motif, namely that all creation sings. Often thought of as poetic exaggeration or as merely metaphoric, the motif is an ancient one. From the claim that morning stars broke into song at the dawn of time (Job 38:7) to today’s creation-attuned new hymns, the conviction that all creation sings has endured in the Christian tradition. The poetic nature of hymnody, in which this conviction is most prominently embedded, shielded this particular motif from more anthropocentric tendencies that begin to manifest in liturgical texts with the onset of modernity. Today, in an intriguing twist, the ancient motif also aligns with newly emerging scientific insights. Whether it is the recognition that other-than-human creatures communicate through sound (e.g., “whale song”) or NASA’s project to “sonify” the universe (for human ears, that is), lines of inquiry have opened that enable a re-reading of this ancient motif, in the face of unprecedented ecological devastation.
Free and open to the public.
This event will be livestreamed.
Speaker bio:
Teresa Berger is Professor of Liturgical Studies and the Thomas E. Golden Jr. Professor of Catholic Theology (emerita as of June 30, 2025) at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Yale Divinity School. She holds doctorates in both theology and in liturgical studies. Originally from Germany, Berger taught ecumenical theology at Duke Divinity School for many years before moving to Yale. Recent publications include an edited volume, Full of Your Glory: Liturgy, Cosmos, Creation (2019), and a monograph titled @ Worship: Liturgical Practices in Digital Worlds (2018). She is currently working on a book that seeks to re-root a theology of liturgy in God’s primordial activity in creation.

Join us on Sunday, October 12 at 4 p.m. for a very special alumni concert to begin a year of events and performances celebrating the 40th anniversary of Yale Camerata, the ISM’s seventy-five-voice vocal ensemble whose members are Yale students, faculty, staff, and experienced singers from the New Haven community. Along with the Yale Camerata, the concert will feature an alumni chorus. The concert will be led by all three of Camerata’s conductors—founder Maggie Brooks, Andre Thomas, and current director, Felicia Barber. Yale Camerata, Camerata Alumni Chorus and invited guests will present a musical celebration spanning four decades of glorious sacred choral literature.
For those interested in participating in the event, please check back for more details.
Yale Camerata is a seventy-five-voice vocal ensemble whose members are Yale graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and experienced singers from the New Haven community. Conducted by Dr. Felicia Barber, the ensemble performs a widely varied spectrum of sacred choral literature, with a special commitment to choral music of our time. The Camerata was founded by Marguerite L. Brooks in 1985.
This concert will be free and open to the public, and will also be livestreamed.
The music will feature highlights from Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and works by Dove, Villette, Robles, and Howells.
